There are plenty of free (dispersed) campsites along the Kern River. If you plan on free camping, we recommend you stop at the ranger station in Kernville, pick up a map of dispersed camping areas, and a free campfire

This company has whitewater rafting at $120 for a half-day or $160 for a full-day. Rafting trips run from May-September.
